  2. The life of gutters is determined by several factors. Choice of gutter materials, the harshness of environment in which your building or house is located, the workmanship of the gutter installers and maintaining your gutters properly. Copper gutters last the longest 90+ years, followed by zinc and stainless steel gutters 40-70 years. Galvalume gutters 40 years last slightly longer than aluminum gutters 15-30 years, cost about the same as aluminum and are stronger as well. Galvanized gutters last 10-20 years. The thickest aluminum gutters with a premium paint coating like Kynar can last 30 or so years while thin varieties with cheap paint can be as shortlived as 10 years. If you want the maximum life, value and attractiveness for your gutter system, paying more initially for higher quality really pays off.
